My name is Charito M. Babol, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified General Accountant (CGA) by profession. I currently work as a Senior Auditor at Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation. I am married to Reynaldo, my husband of 37 years.
In 2001, our family moved to Canada from the Philippines and have settled in Ottawa since then. My family first came to Canada in 1996 – 1997 when I was sent by our office, the Commission on Audit (equivalent of the Office of the Auditor General), on a fellowship program with the Canadian Comprehensive Auditing Foundation (CCAF). As such I worked and trained at the Office of the Auditor General for 9 months.
Although we live in Orleans, my husband and I have always been impressed with the solemnity of the Mass at Saint Patrick’s and the fact that communion is still received kneeling down, something that is rarely seen nowadays. So every Sunday and holydays, we drive down to downtown Ottawa to attend Mass at Saint Patrick’s Basilica.
My husband and I are members of the Couples for Christ Foundation for Family & Life (CFCFFL), a movement that was started in the Philippines, which aims to strengthen the family. Currently CFCFFL is present in 60 countries around the world. My husband and I lead the local group here in Ottawa.
I could offer to the PPC my commitment and focus on the task at hand.
I believe that evangelization is not just the responsibility of our Pastor and the priests but of every member of the Parish and every Catholic for that matter. People have become too complacent about our religion and about the elements that make our religion distinct from other religions. Even Catholics have been too accepting ofthe convenience of abortion and euthanasia. The potection of life, a gift from God,should be given importance.
Another priority is getting feedback from the parishioners on how Saint Patrick’scould become even better at what it does.
