As a newer member of Saint Patrick’s Basilica, I have prayerfully sought to discern how to serve God and this community. I have been blessed with a sense of welcome and belonging in this parish as I have focussed on how to deepen my faith and my Christian walk, especially as a relatively new Catholic. Working alongside others, be it as a Lector or serving parish meals, has given me the opportunity to give and to learn in this diverse and wonderful community.
As a long-time educator (Special Education) and musician (conductor/pianist), I have valued a collaborative approach in both my professional and private life. Over the years, committee work has helped me to further appreciate ongoing open dialogue, with a view to respond to needs, to enable goals to be accomplished and to facilitate growth. I am continuing to affirm my understanding that active listening to diverse and differing thoughts and procedures with a prayerfully open mind and heart that seeks God’s voice first, allows for His work to be done according to His time, and His ways.
My family of origin has had a profound affect on my life view. My parents actively lived out their faith supporting diverse and challenging communities with a view to inclusion for all as members of God’s family. In turn, my life has been graced with people of man small groups and support for challenges during all stages of life are of import.
I would welcome the opportunity to gently serve, to help assess and represent parish needs and hopes, and to clarify priorities in order to build community for the furthering of God’s kingdom here on earth, and in particular, in the Saint Patrick’s Parish community.
